Decoration Regulations
Unfortunately theft does happen, leave things at your own risk.

-
Never leave anything valuable or sentimental.
-
Never leave glass, ceramic, or food/drink.
-
No bird feeders, metal wind blades, large wind chimes, or containers that attract wasps.
-
All decorations must be on a headstone or in a vase attached to the headstone. Items left on the grass will be removed to keep grass alive & mowers able to do their job safely. Cement mow strips must be clear for mowers.
-
Two shepherd hooks & solar lights are allowed per headstone, centered on the north and south sides of the marker, right up against the stone.
-
Fresh flowers will be removed one week after placement, but can be removed sooner if deemed unsightly due to hot weather. Deer are known to come through and eat fresh flowers.
-
Artificial flowers will be left as long as possible if on headstone as required above, but will be removed if they start to look weathered and unsightly.
-
Funeral arrangements, birthday, and holiday decor will be removed within 6-8 days. If you wish to keep holiday decor, please pick it up in that time frame.
-
Note that lightweight items left loose on headstones often get blown around by the wind.

The cemetery crew prides themselves in keeping the cemetery clean and safe for visitors. Old, unsightly, broken, unsafe, hazardous, perishable items will be removed. Trust that we are using good judgement. We care about the visitors and those interred here.
Landscaping, Planting, and Decorations:
The cemetery is responsible for the planting of all trees, shrubs and flowers in the cemetery.
Fresh flowers will be left one week before they are removed by the cemetery workers, but can be removed prior to one week if deemed unsightly.
Artificial flowers will be left as long as they are in good condition and are on the headstone.
Items left on cement mowing strip of headstone are subject to be moved or removed to allow for proper mowing/trimming of grass.
Items placed on graves without a headstone are subject to being moved or removed in order to prevent grass from dying.
Our teams work hard to keep decorations in their proper place, but decorations may not always be in the correct space due to a number of reasons, including wind/weather, temporary removal to allow for burials or setting of headstones, mowing/trimming, etc. Holiday decor will be removed after the holiday has passed. If you wish to keep it, please pick it up promptly. Thank you for your understanding.
Due to Ben Lomond Cemetery being a public cemetery, unfortunately we get occasional reports of theft or broken decorations. Ben Lomond Cemetery is not responsible for any lost or broken items. Any attempt of theft or vandalism is cause for prosecution to the full extent of the law.
